Bonjour!
News of a new color from Chanel arrived in my inbox this morning. Hark!
I’m really on the fence with this one… I need to better understand the opacity and the overall formula before I judge.
If this were a rich, creamy opaque beige, it could be pretty cool. But if this is even slightly “jelly” and transparent … egads, I shudder at merely the thought.
What do you guys think? Maybe it just needs some GLITTER?!

Hope you all are having a great weekend!
In case you’re preparing to settle down and do your weekly nailz tonight, here are some of my latest pins to serve as inspiration.
Mondrian prints, watercolor flowers, French manicure twists… So many choices and such little time.
Anyone have some fun colors or nail art planned for this week?

Oh my.
This Spring & Summer, it’s all about neon juxtaposed with nude. Rather than shell out a bunch of cash trying to find several bottles to suit the season, may I humbly recommend a nails INC set I just stumbled upon.
Here are the shades:
Word on the street is that the nudes dry down a little darker than the bottle may indicate. For $25, it’s worth the gamble! You can pick this up at ye olde Sephora, of course!

Drop dead gorgeous manicure from The Daily Nail. Click the pic to explore some of her other creations!
Now… full disclosure, I sunbathe. Not that often, and when I do, I wear sunscreen, but hot damn do I love to do it. Organic & natural foods are nice to eat when they’re around, but not really on my list of must-haves. I consume too much Splenda. I enjoy filling up my tank because I love the smell of gasoline. I hover in front of the microwave and peer through the glass to watch my food. I practically bathe in acetone once a week.
My approach to life is not always the safest. I know, I know. I’m WILD!
But I know some of you are careful. Or pregnant. Or simply smarter than I am.
And so, dear reader, I came across this article about the toxins in nail polish, and I thought of you. The person who washes (and I mean really washes) fruit before they eat it. Who stays away from high-fructose corn syrup. Who’s never smoked a cigarette and loves to go hiking. And then heads off to piloxing. This is for you, my healthy friend. Bless your heart.
Is Your Nail Polish Harmful? courtesy of Yahoo!
Formaldehyde is the F-word of manicures…This colorless and strong-smelling gas is not only used in embalming (eek!), it can also be found in countless common household items, including glue, plywood, adhesives and yes, even as a hardener and preservative in nail polish.
Oh, and last but not least: It’s a proven carcinogen. In fact, as of June 10, 2011, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services updated its National Toxicology Program Report on Carcinogens (RoC) to state that formaldehyde is ‘known to be a human carcinogen,’ replacing the previous and more ambiguous ‘reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen.’
Ahhh! Okay, that excerpt scared even me! I know Zoya and Nubar are proudly 3-free. Do you all have any other favorite “green / natural / less toxic” brands to recommend?

It was an evening… of enchantment.
An off-the-cuff suggestion from a friend to do some shopping after work led to the discovery of a fantastic sample sale — complete with DJ, champagne (gratis, mais oui) and KLEUR.

There were boards set of of example nails for you to pick & choose from. I love the entire first row.

These designs rock my world! I think I’m a pretty decent nail painter, but I cannot paint like an artist on the small canvas that is a nail. This is incredible! Fifth row, seventh nail in. I WANT.

There was plenty of eye candy to go around. What better way to complement your high-fashion nails than with a statement piece ring?

The finished product! Deep, dark shiny teal nails with mint green accent nails, embellished with tiny Victorian pink roses.
Like KLEUR on Facebook; they post awesome new designs every day, if you’re craving inspiration. And if you’re here in Los Angeles, then get going! Let’s support these talented local artisans. You can find KLEUR at 1520 North Cahuenga in Hollywood, right across from Umami Burger.

If you’ve checked out Polishment: THE BOARD on Pinterest… or just skulked around Pinterest in general, then you’ve probably seen that pic. Or this.

Here’s a shot from The Swatchaholic. Click the link to read an interesting opinion piece on the origin of The Caviar Manicure.
Dahlings, don’t you know? It’s The Caviar Manicure.
Top hats off to the crafty gal who came up with this idea! I had been thinking about fancying up my nails and when I started to do a little online research, look what I found!

A simple kit with everything you need! The Ciaté Caviar Manicure™. Click the pic to go straight to Sephora.
At $25, it’s not exactly what I’d call a steal. There are three total color options available if a Funfetti look doesn’t suit your fancy.
Because time is money, my friend. So if you’ve got more money than time, hit up the Ciaté kit at Sephora… but if you’ve got more time than money OR if you’re feeling exceptionally DIY-inclined, then here’s a great tutorial for you on, of course, The Swatchaholic.
I’m a bit of a picker, so something tells me a Caviar Manicure would be destroyed — by my own hands, no less— in 12 hours max. Probably not for me! But if any of you try it out (or already have?!) then send some pics my way!

*I really need to comment on the nail polish names that Ciaté has chosen because I am appalled.
Pink = Strawberry Milkshake. Fine, how sweet. White = Snow Virgin. Eh, my lip curls at that, but whatever. Black = Ghetto Fabulous? Huh. I don’t get it. Why? Ohhh, because it’s BLACK??
Really clever. Oh wait… actually that’s really racist. Ciaté should be embarrassed. I am disappointed to know that such an inappropriate name with such a loaded connotation was suggested — and approved.
